As part of term 3, we will be exploring ‘The Human Body Systems’.
So far, we have had an introduction to the body systems and spent time looking in depth at each of the following systems:
- Muscular
- Skeletal
- Healthy Food Choices (Currently exploring).
As the term progresses, we will cover all of the body systems, including Reproductive, which will take place when Puberty classes begin this coming Friday (7/8). This newly acquired knowledge is helping students to complete their DAT work. The current DAT requires students to work in small groups of 3-4 and produce an information report, powerpoint presentation and poster on their selected body system.
It sounds like a great deal of work, which it is, however students are working very well together and managing to allocate the work load evenly.
Look out for images of the final results later on in the term!

My Dad is going to Afghanistan to fight with the Australian troups. He leaves in around seven weeks. Dad will be fighting in the war for 6 months before he then heads over with the Australian troops to Iraq. It is a bad place and very dangerous to be there at the moment, but Dad wanted to help them and risk his life doing that. He has said to me how bad it is there and I’m extremely proud that he is helping these people.
Students from 5RG 2008 and 6RG 2009, have worked hard at having a ‘Chook Shed’ built in the school yard. The students fundraising as well as help from the Parents Association, has enabled a chook shed to be erected in the school yard. The chook shed was built by students from ‘The Gordon Tafe’, under the supervision of their project manager, Warick Rounds.Chooks
On Monday, the 3rd of August, we welcomed 4 Isa-Brown chooks into our school. A naming competition will take place this week to decide what the names of each chicken will be. Some ideas so far: Roast, Gravy, Fried and Kentucky…Hmmmm, seems like there is a bit of a theme!
Full responsibility of the chooks welfare has been handed over to students of 6RG. These roles will help each student develop responsible pet ownership skills and also introduce economy and budgeting skills. Students will be working out a budget to cover the upkeep of the chooks. The selling of fresh chook eggs in a couple of weeks time, when the chooks start laying, will help to maintain the chooks.
We are very excited by this project, as it is wonderful to see how proud and excited my students are to see what their hard work and commitment towards a project has achieved.
Look out for more updates from 6RG students regarding their school pets!
This year in term one we have had Inter school sports. most of the kid’s in 6rg made it to their choice of activity because they are sporty, and they are grade six’s. all of our class students have enjoyed their sport that they have picked very well and we hope they will continue to enjoy their activity. For the last few wekks we have been playing at home and most of our kids who played, their teams either had a close game or won. Right now that’s all i can come up with.
Hello, and welcome to 6rg’s wonderful blog. This is all about our grade and how we work. So far we have been doing all kinds of things. These things are spelling, writing, journal entries and much more. Those are the main things we are doing… also we can’t forget about our times table challenge. We have lot’s of people who are great at problem solving in maths, our highest adverage score is 98.4 percent. We lost to Mr. Heenan, we got so close. Two of our student’s James and Sarah were picked to go in a very special quiz that only very few students are picked for. I could go on for ages but you need some tim to look at other things as well. Thanks for reading.
